Recently AliExpress has launched Premier, an innovative service where brand owners sell their items directly on the AliExpress platform.
Premier comes with 3 benefits out of the box:
- Authenticity: The items you purchase on Premier stores are 100% genuine. After you receive the items, you have 14 days to complain if the origin of the products is not as expected.
- 24 hours dispatch: If you order less than 5 pieces, the seller will send the items within 1 day
- Free return shipping: And this is the deal-breaker. With most Chinese wholesalers, if the items received were faulty the customer had to pay the shipping fees back to China. With AliExpress Premier, customers will be reimbursed the logistics cost.
And these are all the good news about the service. What are the negative points?
Well, go to Premier, browse it for a while and try to find any brand that you are familiar with. Any luck? While some brands are quite popular in China domestic market (e.g. VANCL for fashion, or Meizu for electronics) they are totally unknown for the majority of AliExpress target customers. The question is: who wants to buy ‘genuine’ items from brands who no one ever heard of?

AliExpress will definitely hit the bull’s-eye if they manage to bring in brands that are popular in overseas market, say Adidas? Samsung? In the meantime, the potential of this service is still quite limited.
